I just quit my job—And I'm not stressed. Here's why.
Yeah, I know it sounds crazy. People were like: "Wait… how are you going to pay your bills?"
And I just smiled. Because the government is paying me. Yep, really. And it's legal.
Here's the deal: I get paid to take care of my elderly mom under a program called CDPAP—the Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program.
It's part of Medicaid, and it basically lets aging adults choose their own caregivers.
And yes, that can include family members. Like me.
You don't need a medical degree, although caretaker training definitely helps.
And in some states—California, for example—you can make up to $30 an hour.
All I had to do was sign up, show I could provide care, and boom—legally earning while helping my mom.
